BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. – Jun 4, 2025 – A company in Northampton County is expanding its operations and hiring dozens of new employees.

Myers Emergency and Power Systems held a ribbon cutting for its new battery production plant in Bethlehem Township Wednesday, and the final product is larger than life.
“What you actually see here is one of the largest, the large cabinets that we have. This is what’s called an 11-shelf, 4-hour cabinet,” said Vice President of Operations Jim Kessler.
Inside those cabinets, there are dozens of power cells that contain 15 lithium batteries, and that’s all controlled by a battery monitoring system board that’s placed on top, and manufactured in the facility.
“One of these would probably run your house for a day,” said Kessler.
But their main purpose isn’t to run your house. The batteries can keep an entire building running when the power goes out.
“With this technology, like I said earlier, you can go off 2 hours, 4 hours, or an entire day completely off the grid,” said CEO John Daly.
In addition to emergencies, Daly said the batteries may even be used in the future to reduce demand on the grid.
“This technology is going to be very important going forward to, how do we reduce some of the buildings and take them off the grid during peak times,” said Daly.
To make the power cells and cabinets, Daly said it’s going to take more employees.
“There will be, initially, between 45 and 50 to start with, and then that will grow from there,” said Daly.
Growing right in the Lehigh Valley.
